Unlike zinc phosphate cement, Precedent will not wash out from under orthodontic bands. Precedent Cement leaches fluoride ions over the life of the material. These ions attach to the enamel surface to reduce decalcification. Precedent is a hydrophilic glass ionomer cement that will bond in a saliva or water contaminated field.
